The five core values above have not been "invented" by us nor by anyone else, they reside in the heart of every human being and possibly in every mammal too.
They can be found in the old texts known as the Vedas of India and they are also advocated by all major religions: besides the Vedas of Hinduism one can find references to them in the Oracle of Atsuta (Shintoism), The Tao Te Ching (Taoism), The Dhammapada (Buddhism), The Old Testament (Judaism and Christianism), the Book of the Sikhs, the New Testament (Christianism) and the Holy Quran (Islam). Probably other religious texts also sport them, but the ones above are those we have verified.
In modern times these five values have been the most distinctive teaching of Sathya Sai Baba (1926-2011), the first dean of the University that bears his name, who founded hundreds of schools and many institutes to educate children and youth in the human values. His method to teach the human values is quite effective and it has been adopted by a large number of other schools in several countries.
The original contributions of INEVAL to the study of human values are:
- The investigation of biological and psychological reasons that make the practice of human values is difficult for many people.
- The search for solutions to these problems.
- To find a scientific proof to show that these values are the reference values for any value system.
- To build a reliable coordinated system of values universally applicable.
- To apply the business management knowledge thus gained to create a new management paradigm called "natural leadership by human values".
In 2001 Jordi Griera came up with such irrefutable proof, showing two independent paths through which one can conclude that the fundamental human values are those five and only those five. This discovery has been coupled with another innovation: Any value one can think of, other than the 5 Core Human Values above, can be referred to as a combination of them, bulding a 5-axis Cartesian Coordinated Values System.
As an example, Justice is a necessary combination of Truth and Right Action. It will be seen that if Truth lacks there can be no Justice, and once you know the truth you need to apply Right Action, for Justice to be made.
Similarly, Freedom requires Nonviolence and Inner Peace. You cannot be free if someone is applying violence on you, but you cannot be free either if you fall prey to your own emotions, which can then be exploited by others to control you. And so on with all values.
The great advantage of the INEVAL Coordinated Human Values System is that it is absolute, independent from culture, traditions, customs and religion. This makes it especially useful for business purposes, because it is possible to analyze a given issue against five absolute parametres, to yield consistent, exhaustive results.
Our seminars go in depth into all these findings and their practical advantages for business and one's own life. Our leadership techniques are a natural application of this new understanding of human psyche.
