Origin of the Ineval Foundation

M. Hon. President Pujol delivers the first Prizes to Companies with Human Values, Barcelona 29th May 1999.

From 1995 onwards, meetings were taking place in Barcelona among some industrialists, bankers, philosophers, engineers and professors. The problem they were facing was that the prevalent business culture was unsatisfactory for too materialistic and it did not appear to be efficient enough to handle the changes heralded by the XXI Century. Their main conclusion was: “In order to change Society people need first to be aware of their Values, Companies have to be managed on Human Values”. This led to a formulation of Management by Values and to the creation of the Ecoval Business Association to promote Values in Business.

Evolving at a fast pace, in 1999 the first ever contest “Prize to the Company with Human Values” was held by PIMEC, the Catalan Business Association, technically supported by Ecoval. Catalonia’s President-Chief Minister personally gave the Prize to the winning Companies. All of Barcelona’s business schools, headed by the world-renowned ESADE and IESE were invited and had a seat in the jury. At the request of participant Companies, the INEVAL Foundation was set up to develop and to teach the practical application of Management by Values.
